MS offers a bounty for virus writers (SoBig). Many people think billg is a strategic genius, but he's not. This is a great example. Offering a bounty for virus writers does a lot worse than just legitimizing a market for writing viruses - it's only gonna act as an incentive for future virus writers.

It might be better strategy if they produced better software.
