In case you didn't notice, Google + Skype + open spectrum/devices/apps = byebye telcos.

Let the disruption begin...

Oh please, please, please, please, please!!! let this rumor be true. I'm just dying for any alternative to the telcos, especially after its been made so clear that they've willingly become an extension of the CIA & NSA, and I don't think I'm alone in that sentiment.

This is an industry that's been just asking for disruption for soooooo long.

Now that would be one disruption that consumers would love.
I bet that incumbents would fight this with their lawyers rather than with their engineers, and with government's growing uneasiness with Google (e.g. on the DoubleClick deal) there's a real chance that they'll succeed.

I can see Google might probably generate better synergy with Skype than eBay does now. But then in some countries like the US, the wifi connection is not as ubiquitous as cellular network, so the Google+Skype phone might not work as smoothly as plain old cell phones do.
