Here's a decent read about how the politics of offshoring are heating up - and how the IT industry itself is fighting hard to maintain it's ability to arbitrage labor. All of which brings us to an interesting question: how much offshoring is so tech firms can engage in massive price competition, to respond to the downturn in IT spending for the last few years? Is there really any other reason for it? Surely it's not about staying 'globally competitive', so I have my doubts.
