Here's an NYT article about how George Gilder made it, lost it, and is now making it again.
I've never understood the Gilder phenomenon. Stock tips aside, read a couple of sci-fi books and you'll get a far better idea of the future than guys like him peddle. On the financial side, guys like Gilder never understand market dynamics and strategy.
Now, he's looking at South Korea, and claiming it as evidence of his 'telecosm' theory. Note to George: broadband in South Korea
is pretty amazing. It's also massively subsidized by the state, since they figured that it was a natural monopoly that the market would have little incentive to maintain, and massive incentive to squabble over for years. Now
that's understanding market dynamics.
