Packeteer releases an upgrade that identifies P2P or music service (aka iTunes) traffic over the network. Who wants it? Corporate types in pinstriped suits, who think that you're they're wage slaves. No more music in your cube farm - begin the revolution now.

Seriously, this illustrates how great a game all the rights management firms are playing - a never-ending and ever-accelerating upgrade cycle. That's what Macrovision's model is really all about - their incentive isn't to make their technology 100% effective, just to make sure that the upgrade-hack-upgrade cycle keeps accelerating.
