Blah, blah, blah, more about the so-called economics of open-source. Look, Eric Raymond has done some very cool things, but his econ is a little off the mark. The problem is that the economists aren't doing a great job, either. Anyone thinking about this needs to consider externalities, spillovers, complementarity, and social capital much, much more than standard labour economics or simple notions of barriers to competition (ie proprietary software). Unfortunately, I don't have time to get into it right now...!
