Temporary credit card numbers to protect yourself from the massive trust and asymmetric info problems in ecommerce. Interesting how the market solves things - this is a much, much, cooler solution than so-called third-party ratings agencies like TrustE, etc - which, as I argued, were never gonna work. This solution is much more likely to succeed, because it's a hell of a lot more elegant, and more importantly, the mechanism, while not without it's own incentive problem, actually does reduce risk (or the perception of it). Unlike TrustE.
