The First World is the New Third World

"...The White House has eliminated funding for a mission to service the Hubble Space Telescope from its 2006 budget request and directed NASA to focus solely on deorbiting the popular spacecraft at the end of its life, according to government and industry sources."

RIP Hubble - what do you expect from Bush and his theocratic goons?

Comments:

To be honest, although Bush's and his cronies think science is a mute point since the bible reveals everything, the hubble is a little past its prime.

There's ground based technologies that our now matching or exceeding the capabilities of hubble and it's hard to ask for money to fix a big lense in the sky when you need 80 billion (more) to run a war in Iraq.

Sad to see such a nice tool of science go though. It took some pretty amazing pictures, even if they were digitally coloured by some lady working on a Mac.
