Speaking of Social Software...

NYT rips on Friendster for zero innovation in the last year or so. Also notes an upcoming 'major partnership announcement' in Feb. Any guesses?

My guess is something mobility focused - something that unbundles Friendster from the desktop and takes FriendsterLite with some bonus features on the road. The endgame here, I think, would be to rebundle a mobile Friendster into the digital hub, and make it a part of the living room wars. The boring alternative is, I guess, a Yahoo (etc) horizontal integration play (so I won't suggest that). And, of course, it could also just be a lotta FUD...
