Industry Note: The YouTube Jackpot

"...Buying the home page on YouTube for a day generally costs about $250,000, according to media-buying executives familiar with the pricing."

An interesting link about YouTube becoming a more and more attractive medium for yesterday's mass marketers - even though it's full of thoroughly obsolete notions of targeting/demographics/etc.

Forget the noise - rather, note that, at those rates, our estimate from earlier this month that YouTube would hit in the low hundreds this years and grow aggressively is well on its way to being borne out; and, of course that, that a secular, structural shift of value in advertising, along a lengthening tail, is very, very real.
