How Not to Think Strategically About....Pt 18849


You know, Google must love the mediaconomy.

Because it's easy to stay about 9 billion steps ahead.

For example: while everyone's going a bit hysterical over the death of email...Google's actually capturing more and more value from it.

Yeah, we all know teens don't use email as much. But the assumption underlying the conclusion is itself erroneous. Trying to simply chase shifts in demand and supply - instead of actively shaping them - is an approach to strategy that's as obsolete as a mainframe or a newspaper.

The point: if you're still just thinking about inert products and services - instead of business designs, competencies, and strategies - you're just fresh meat for the grinder being radical innovators are spinning faster and faster.
